Prints

I finally found a place to make my prints in Houston!
Now I feel good. I went to 3 different places before this one and the employees didn’t know how to use the scanner to replace the gray background with a white one. I was disappointed and I was starting to think that I wasn’t going to be able to have copies of my work! For that reason I wasn’t offering new prints.
The manager in this place was SO good.
I am so happy I found this place, it is more expensive but the job is better.
Ahhhh... I am in print wonderland! I hope we don’t have to move again :s
I just add more prints to my Etsy shop, go and check it out :)

I'm glad you found a good printer in Houston. Can you offer some pointers on what to look for in a good printer. I don't sell prints yet because I'm not familiar with the new technology of giclee. I worked for a printer about 30 years ago but, I know I'm behind the times on art prints. Thanks.

fantastic! Yeah, I dont know why its so hard to find a good print place. I looked into it a while back and they required me to do so much of the work (put it on a page, with cropmarks, on a disc) I thought "why am I doing all their work??? I should do it myself !"

Wish we had a good place like yours around here! Your prints look awesome!

Thank you so much girls!
Vickie,
There are many different levels of “giclee” and the one approved by the GPA are very expensive, some more than $100 for a small one (not for me) the art store in Dallas that I use to go was offering that service.
Epson has a registered Giclee trademark, "UltraGiclee". a short list of Epson art papers, and Epson UltraChrome inks. That is kind of funny because one of the first things most fine art printers do is move away from Epson papers (they are not in the list of GPA approved papers)
There is so much hype about “giclee” and I think is just a fancy French word for inkjet.
You need to find a place that offers inkjet printing with archival inks
And example of NOT giclee will be a lithograph, a laser print or a silk print.
If you chose to make your prints on paper: a heavy weight matte, 65lbs and up.
I use 80Lbs Cover super smooth and I get it in a paper factory. Some printing companies don’t charge you extra for the paper, in that case use theirs.
The best way to find places is to google map them (printing services) and start calling. It is a process but once you find it for the right price is worth it.
Don’t be afraid to ask for prices, just tell them what are you looking for. Some people are very nice and recommend places for you to go if they don’t have that cheap service.
You art is very beautiful and would be wonderful for you to keep a record of it or sell the prints.
I hope this helps.
Xoxo
Adri

Ps: I read a lot and I ask around but I am not an expert on printing. GPA stands for Giclée Printers Association

I hope to buy one of your prints soon but I'm not sure how etsy works yet or what the postage here to sweden would be. So until then I will admire your work here online!

I'm also located in Houston and would love to know where to have prints made of my work. I've been asking around with no luck.
